Michael “Tate” Barkley has been a practicing attorney for more than 22 years, and is a Founding Partner of Bain & Barkley. His litigation and trial experience consists of Communications Law, Consumer and Labor Claims, Medical Malpractice, Commercial Disputes, and Insurance Defense.
“Tate” is a retained keynote and platform speaker for multiple organizations and associations on Successful Ethical Decision Making, Respect In The Workplace, and a wide range of other legal and social issues. He has been trained by the American Society of Training and Development and is a Certified Prejudice Reduction Trainer with the National Coalition Building Institute. Tate is also an Associate Member of the National Speakers Association.
Tate addresses groups of all sizes, teaching and encouraging with his relaxed, entertaining style. His clients include corporations, not-for-profits and government entities.
Mr. Barkley is also the author of “Successful Ethical Decision Making: Get What You Want, Without Getting In Trouble“, available for purchase on Amazon.com. He is currently working with his law partner, Steve Bain, on his second book in the series: “Get What You Want With Bargaining and Negotiation“. All of Tate’s books make practical applications of the duties of the fiduciary to various realms of our everyday lives ranging from the classroom to the boardroom.
Tate is a Professor for the University of Houston School of Communications where he has taught Communications Law and Ethics, and Bargaining & Negotiation for the past 12 years.
Tate has an undergraduate degree from The University of Texas and received his law degree from South Texas College of Law.
