Michael Gold, founder and president of Jazz Impact, has crafted a unique learning and development experience that uses jazz as a metaphor to help people learn and understand how to maximize their collaborative potential in a rapidly changing world. Since 1999, Gold has brought his inspirational Jazz based seminars to companies such as IBM, Starbucks, The Hay Group International, Aetna Insurance Company, The United Nations, The Case Managers Society, Accenture, AMS, Georgia Pacific, Best Buy, Prudential/American Scandia, and Reynolds & Reynolds.
For over two decades, Gold has worked as a professional jazz bassist performing with some of the top musicians in the New York jazz scene including Lee Konitz, Al Cohn, Tal Farlow, Warne Marsh, Hank Jones, and Jon Hendricks.
Aside from his extensive performance career, Gold has also served as the Vice President of Stewart Scott Associates, in Poughkeepsie, NY and as Vice President of Operations for the Unbank Company in Minneapolis, MN. From 1993 to 1995, he created and ran the Jazz Department at Vassar College. During those years he also received a National Endowment for the Arts grant to teach professional symphonic musicians the skills of jazz improvisation.
He holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from New York University as well as a Masters Degree in Jazz Studies from the New England Conservatory. Gold continues to perform regularly and currently resides with his family in Minneapolis, MN.
