In November, 2002, BusinessWeek magazine called Terry Pearce the “eminence grise” of executive coaches.

He is the Founder and President of Leadership Communication, a company offering one-on-one coaching and leadership communication programs to high-profile corporate, political and community leaders. The content and method of his coaching are radical departures from conventional wisdom, and are designed to move people to commitment rather than mere compliance, inspiring new levels of contribution and innovation.

Terry is also an author. His first book, Leading Out Loud – the Authentic Speaker, the Credible Leader was honored by Executive Summaries as “one of the best thirty business books of 1996.” A new and revised edition of LOL, entitled Leading Out Loud – Inspiring Change Through Authentic Communication, has all new research, updated examples, and a new section on the decision to lead. The new edition is now available online and in bookstores. The principles of Leading Out Loud are also available as an Executive and Management Workshop through Blessing White.

Terry’s second book was written with David Pottruck, President and CEO of The Charles Schwab Corporation. Clicks and Mortar….Passion-Driven Growth in an Internet-Driven World was on the best-seller lists of the New York Times, Business Week Magazine and The Wall Street Journal. Excerpts of the book have appeared in Fortune Magazine, Business 2.0 and it has been featured on every major national business news network. Terry has also published articles in Executive Excellence, The Handbook of Technology Management, and The National Productivity Review.

In addition to his writing and coaching work, Terry lectures at The Haas Graduate School of Business, University of California, Berkeley, is a visiting faculty member at The London Business School, a contributor to the Executive Briefing Video Series at Stanford, and a Project Consultant and Interviewer for the Leaders of the New Century series for public radio. He is a leadership resource as a speaker as well as an executive development guide.

Terry was formerly a Fellow and Senior Vice President of Executive Communication for Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. His work there from 1994 through 2002 won both the “Golden Quill” award from the International Association of Business Communicators and the “Compass” award from the American Association of Public Relations.

Terry's background has been as eclectic as his current activities. He was educated in Oregon in business and religious philosophy, then spent 17 years as a manager and executive with IBM. In the 80's he worked extensively in citizen diplomacy, and pioneered American business activities in the Soviet Union as a co-founder of Partners, a Soviet-American trading company. In his current company, he has coached executives at large companies world-wide, including Bay Area firms like Sun Microsystems, Novell, Gap, Inc., Visa International, Hewlett Packard, and Agilent.

He is active in the community as well, currently serving on the boards of the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE) and The Pottruck Family Foundation. Terry is a founding director of The Partnership for a Drug-Free California and Director of The Healthy Cities Project at the Institute for the Study of Social Change. In 1989, he ran across the United States in an effort to promote both projects.

Terry is the father of three grown children, has five grandchildren, and lives in Larkspur, California.
