In 1997 Elissa Montanti
founded the non-profit, non-partisan Global Medical Relief Fund (GMRF) for Children, whose mission is to aid children who are missing or have lost the use of limbs or eyes, have been severely burned, or have been injured due to war, natural disaster or illness. She has brought more than 100 children to the U.S. from countries or regions that can offer only minimal medical care or none at all. Originally a native of Staten Island, Elissa runs her company out the walk-in closet in her apartment.
Today has found a new way to spread her motivational and empowering message of hope by telling her inspirational story to audiences all over. She not only informs, but also inspires people to “not give up, because if it’s something good and something you believe in, do not give up, just endure and forge ahead.”
