Jeff Blatnick was preparing to make his second Olympic Team in wrestling. In 1980, the US Team suffered through a boycott. In 1982, Jeff suffered through a bout with cancer. Surgery and radiation put the cancer in remission and Blatnick resumed training. In 1984, Jeff won the Olympics and earned a Gold Medal. During his interview, Blatnick was overcome by emotion. Though sobbing, he proclaimed, “I’m a happy dude!”
Jeff Blatnick was on the front page of every major paper in the country. He went from relatively unknown to celebrity status. The general public responded with recognition awards and appearances. Businesses responded with invitations to speak. How could anyone go through cancer treatment 18 months prior to the Olympics and win the Gold Medal??
Jeff has been answering that very question for 19 years as a motivational speaker. Using perspective analysis, Jeff shows people how to overcome fears, create challenges and perform successfully. “Success is no accident, it is earned and always expected!!”
Blatnick also has a broadcast career having worked with all the major networks. Events covered include; Olympic Games, NCAA National Tournaments, International Wrestling matches and Mixed Martial Arts events.
Civic Duties included:
NYC 2012 Olympic Bid Committee, BOD & ExCom
Honorary Coach, Special Olympics New York
Vice President, US Olympic Alumni
Chairman, Olympians for Olympians Relief Fund
Gilda’s Club, BOD
Coach/Head Instructor, TNT Wrestling Club
President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sport 1994-2002
The 2004 Summer Olympic Games are around the corner. Athletes have been preparing for 4 years for this one competition. Many Businesses will have meetings and conferences with Olympic themes preparing for their future, their competitions.
Jeff’s perspective is, “the Olympics aren’t every 4 years, they’re everyday.”
