After surviving near fatal Sepsis and Necrotizing Fasciitis, following routine fibroid removal, Alicia co-sponsored and lobbied successfully for passage of two California laws for Infection Prevention Education and Public Reporting of hospital infection rates. She serves on the Education and Awareness Sub-committees of the California Department of Public Health's Hospital-Acquired Infection Advisory Committee and the Wyoming Infection Prevention Advisory Group.
