When’s the last time you got to throw around a signed football? Well, here is your chance! Football is one of America’s most watched sporting events, especially when the Super Bowl comes around. Did you know just in the past year, 111.5 million people tuned in to watch Super Bowl XLVI? That accounts for one third of the United States population! With that being said, Eagles Talent Speakers Bureau is holding a contest where one lucky winner will receive a signed football from famed Philadelphia Eagles player Vince Papale.
The Story behind Vince Papale
In 1976, Vince Papale joined the Philadelphia Eagles at the age of 30, making him the oldest rookie in the history of the NFL, which is a title he still holds today. Papale spent four seasons with the Eagles as a wide receiver until a shoulder injury abruptly ended his career. However, during his time with the team, Papale was voted as the Special Teams Captain by his teammates and the “Man of the Year” in 1978 by the Eagles.
Papale’s life before the Eagles is a testament to hard work, drive and inspiration. He was a star athlete in high school by sporting three varsity letters in football, basketball and track. In fact, Papale still holds his high school outdoor pole vault record at Interboro HS in Prospect Park, PA. Papale’s life story was even featured in a Hollywood blockbuster titled “Invincible” where Mark Walhberg portrayed his life during the 2006 film.
While Papale may be known as a famed Eagles player, movie inspiration and an author, he continues today as a motivational speaker to help others follow their dreams. Papale has the power to move audiences and give them the courage and drive they need to make their goals come true. He’s the perfect speaker when it comes to leadership, overcoming adversity, team building and inspiration.
