Today is one of the most delicious days of the year, National Doughnut Day is being celebrated by restaurants and bakeries across the country.
Slashed prices on doughnuts and even FREE doughnuts will be offered to the delight of millions of Americans!
This great holiday was started by Chicago’s The Salvation Army in 1938 to help those hurt by the Great Depression. It also served to honor The Salvation Army “Lassies” of World War I who served soldiers doughnuts. National Doughnut Day was created with helping others in mind.
Speaking of helping others, speaker and former TV personality Chris “Bash” Bashinelli stopped by our office yesterday delivering a delectable dozen doughnuts. Thank you, Chris! We really appreciate your kind gesture.
Chris also serves the less fortunate around the world. After leaving his acting career with companies such as National Geographic and PBS, he donated his time to bettering the lives of others.
“Service is not the byproduct of success. It is the starting point,” he said in a recent speech. Chris also urges everyone to be “global citizens.” He goes on to say, “all we have to do to be a global citizen is take the needs of the person sitting right next to us and place them on an equal to or greater pedestal than our own.”
When you bite into your doughnut, think about how you can help others too!
