These Scientists Are Taking A Day Off From The Lab

Posted by DaisyMae VanValkenburgh

Today is World Laboratory Day. We want to thank the scientists that are changing the world with each new discovery. Here are 3 speakers who have researched, discovered and changed different aspects of the science world.

Olympia LePoint

Olympia LePoint

Olympia is an award-winning rocket scientist, author and TEDx speaker. You have probably seen her in TEDx Talks, on the news and making an appearance on Impact Theory. Olympia’s story is one of overcoming failure, adversity and not letting your past get the best of you. She is a science expert who regularly explains SpaceX and NASA rocket technology. Her well-known TEDx Talk, “Reprogramming Your Brain to Overcome Fear” answers how humans can turn off fear and simultaneously do the things we are most scared of. As a science enthusiast, Olympia has become a huge STEM advocate.

Dr. Gary Greenberg

Dr. Gary Greenberg Scientists

Gary is a scientist, inventor, author and photographer. The Art of Science is Gary’s main passion. As a photographer, his microscope photographs bring the viewer into a whole new world. It allows us to see things that we cannot perceive with our naked eyes. Gary’s presentations make audiences curious and reveal parts of nature that we don’t normally notice. He is able to capture the beauty of ordinary objects. In 1990 he began inventing three-dimensional microscopes for which has been issued 20 US patents. Gary uses his 3D microscopes to investigate moon sand brought to Earth during the Apollo missions. His most recent project was working with Scorpio V and NASA to design a 3D microscope for the International Space Station.

Dr. Michio Kaku

Dr. Michio Kaku

Dr. Michio Kaku is one of the most recognized theoretical physicists in the field of science. He uses his research to aid in predicting future trends that affect business, commerce, finance and technology. Ever since he was younger he loved science. When he was a student at Palo Alto’s Cubberley High School, he created his own particle accelerator inside his parents’ garage. He stated that his goal was to generate gamma ray beams that would be strong enough to be able to produce antimatter. Needless to say, Michio loves his career, and wants to continue to share it with the world.
