Biography

There’s more to this world than you see at first glance. And it can change everything. My passion is to spark your curiosity, stimulate thinking and foster wonder in our daily lives. Opening our minds to this can have profound effects on our personal and professional lives.

Whether at work or play, I have spent my life asking WHY and how to put those insights into action. Whether I was dissecting Talmudic laws as a child or investigating different cultures’ during my Anthropology studies at Harvard University, or examining people’s relationships with products and brands during my career in advertising, the quest for WHY is the thread that is woven throughout all my roles.

Now, as the Director of U. S. Creative Works, Google’s creative think tank for agencies and brands, my role is to help advertisers and marketers make sense of human beings’ deep, emotional relationship to the digital space and convert those insights in strategic and creative efforts. While at Google, I have also launched an industry-first thought leadership series on human beings emotional relationships with the digital space: Humanizing Digital. This research decodes technology in an inspiring and useful way.

I love to share my thoughts on marketing, digital culture and beauty through various articles; on stages around the globe; to a broad audience with special guests via my Human Code podcast, and in a host of publications including: Business Insider, Huffington Post, NY Times, La Presse, CNBC, Mumbrella, AdNews, B&T & Globes Israel.

Cracking Creativity: A Business Driving Guide for Human Ingenuity in the Age of AI

n an age of economic uncertainty, and great technological shifts, growth can’t come from efficiencies and cost cutting alone. Big ideas/innovations are critical for unprecedented business (and personal) success. The major investment in AI in companies like Google is an example of this!

While people may think that AI will strip our need for creativity, it’s the opposite! AI paradoxically enables us to be MORE human and creative. It enables us to refocus our energies on the core of creative development — collaborative insight development & ideation — to source new solutions. It’s human ingenuity that will rise to the top.

So, how do we instill a sense of creativity in us all? First, recognize that we are all INHERENTLY creative. Creativity is essentially making connections among disparate concepts, data, inputs to surface novel and helpful solutions, ideas or innovations. From a neuroscience perspective, our brains are hardwired to make the connections! We probably leverage the essentials of creativity everyday and don’t even realize it.

Second, based on my experience in anthropology, creative advertising, as a long-time leader at Google (one of the most innovative companies on earth), coupled with years of interviews with a spectrum of creative people on my Human Code Podcast, I have homed in on the 3 most essential elements of creative development (and we can all leverage them!). #Seektheway, #lookforthelinks, #discover your mission. And I share how AI can bolster each of these steps.

This approach will open up every person, no matter their talents, professional roles or levels of experience, to source their creative and innovative skills to develop ideas for any organizational/business challenge.
