THEN:  Janet is widely regarded as one of the greatest female distance swimmers in history. She won four Olympic gold medals and one silver across the 1988 and 1992  and 1996 Games, setting multiple world records in the 400-, 800-, and 1,500-meter freestyle events, many of which stood for nearly two decades. Evans also captured numerous national and world titles, earned the James E. Sullivan Award as the top U.S. amateur athlete, and was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame. She is an Olympic legend.Â
NOW: Janet is the Chief Athlete Officer for the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games and is considered one of the most powerful women in sports business around the world. She leads the effort to ensure that the voices and needs of all athletes are at the heart of every decision for the 2028 Games in Los Angeles. From the design of the Athletes’ Village to transportation, accommodations, and overall experience, Janet oversees planning for more than 15,000 Olympians and Paralympians from around the globe who will compete on the world’s biggest stage.
