The baseball career of Steve Sax spanned nearly eighteen years and featured many impressive moments. Steve played second base with intensity and toughness for the Los Angeles Dodgers through 1988. During his years with the team, Steve’s defensive play was a key element in the team’s winning two World Series. He played for the New York Yankees 1989-1991 and then went on to play for the Chicago White Sox and Oakland Athletics. He was the 1982 National League Rookie of the Year, 1986 Silver Slugger award winner, and a five-time All-Star.
After his retirement in 1995, Steve went on to express his love of the game contributing commentary on ESPN and as a Major League baseball analyst for The National Sports Report on Fox Sports’ Prime Time. He’s also appeared on Good Morning America, Hannity’s Great America, and Late Night with David Letterman; as well as a characterization of himself on the Simpsons. He was published in the Wall Street Journal for an article on personal responsibility and self- reliance. This article was recognized by the President of the United States for its candid and thoughtful remarks regarding character building in our children. Steve is the author of the book, SHIFT: Change Your Mindset and you Change Your World that carries an endorsement by Donald Trump. In 2014 Steve started the Steve Sax Foundation as a way to mentor the youth of America by helping kids earn the opportunity to go to college on scholarship. Steve is a member of the NSA, the National Speakers Association, and is a certified executive business and life coach by the ICF (International Coaches Federation) and has spoken to such industry giants as Coca Cola and Bank of America.
Steve has two grown children, one grandchild and lives in Sacramento, California.
